Close call!!

Holy Moly!
So, as most of you may already know, we had a BIG scare this past week.. More specifically, on April 1st... (how ironic), I had a routine Dr's appt, where they noticed that my cervix was dangerously short. The Dr. asked if I was feeling any contractions... which I wasn't.

They immediately sent me to the hospital so they could do more testing and put me on a contraction monitor.

To our TOTAL and utter surprise, I was having contractions 3 minutes apart!!!! And, to top it all off, my cervix was effaced and a little dilated.
I was admitted to the hospital and they immediately started me on drugs to attempt to halt or slow down the contractions. Also, I was given the all important steroid shots that mature the lungs of the babies - if they were to come so premature. It took a while to stop the contractions, but it eventually worked.
All in all, I was in for 4 days. The Dr (and Alex) was hesitant to send me home because they are concerned that I may not feel the contractions on my own. So, I am trying my damndest to be in tune with my body :-).
On a serious note, I am home on bedrest. The goal is to obviously keep these buggers in there as long as possible!! Oh and speaking of the buggers.. they are doing wonderfully! They monitored them regularly as well. It seems that they are OK to stick around in there for some time longer. It's just my uterus and cervix that are 'done' and want out :-).
Fingers and toes crossed by everyone for us, pleeeeaaaase!

Video

Ok, this is my first attempt at adding/uploading videos on here. I tried to get fancy and edit them to make them more interesting.. but no luck. (Ildi, help!)

These were from 2 weeks ago (March 8th, Baby Shower #1). Ildi was the videographer, giggling in the background :-).

28 weeks info. & pix!

"How your baby's growing:

By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world."*

27 weeks

"How your baby's growing:

This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle."

Latest check up and sonogram

I had my monthly Dr's appointment yesterday to check on the little buggers. From here on out, I will be seen every 2 weeks.

Everything was great, thank goodness. They are each weighing in at approximately 2.1 lbs.

Out of the 4 ultrasound pictures the radiology tech printed out for me, only 1 is worth posting.

It is a close-up of baby B's face and partially of 'his' tummy. (look at those chubby cheeks!)
